How to look up a Texas daycare’s inspection record

Updated August 30, 2026 · Sourced from official Texas HHSC records

You can look up any Texas daycare's official record two ways: search the operation by name or city on CheckedCare, or go straight to the Texas HHSC Child Care Regulation public search and open its Inspection and Compliance History. Both show the same official state record, including license status, inspections, and any cited deficiencies.

Option 1: search on CheckedCare

  1. Open the search page and type the daycare's name or city.
  2. Open the operation's page to see its license status, inspection count, and every cited deficiency with the state's verbatim narrative.
  3. Each page links straight to the matching official state record so you can confirm it at the source.

Option 2: the official state portal

  1. Go to the Texas HHSC Child Care Regulation public search at childcare.hhs.texas.gov.
  2. Search by operation name, address, city, or county.
  3. Open the operation and select its Inspection and Compliance History to see inspections, assessments, and any deficiencies.

How to read what you find

One important caveat from the state

The online record is not always complete up to the minute. The state says so directly:

“Disclaimer: The online compliance history does not include minimum standard violations or corrective or adverse actions until after the child-care operation has had due process or waived its rights. HHSC disclaims liability for any errors or omissions from the compliance history information.”

That is why CheckedCare shows the sync date on every page and links back to the official record: treat what you read as the state's file as of that date, and verify current status with the agency before making a decision.
