Joanns Day Care and Camp

During the inspection it was observed that children were walking around with their bottles and sippy cups. This was corrected at inspection when the children had them taken away and it was explained the reasons this was not allowed.

During the inspection it was found that the operation was in need of new air filters and cleaning of them, as their was dust and dirt caked on parts of the vents. It was also found that the carpets were needing to be vacuumed and trash can lids wiped down.

In the 3 transportation vans, there were no plan for transportation emergencies.

The transportation vans had garbage, clutter, and dirt built up on the floors of the vans.

One transportation van did not have a current serviced fire extinguisher.

On the playground there is a broken gate which results in an open space.

There was a electrical outlet that was not secured to the wall properly and ot covered with outlet protecting.

There was Lysol wipes in the classroom accessible to children. Note: Corrected at inspection.

Two staff members did not have an active background checks.

There was trash underneath the sink of the girls bathroom in gym.

In the pre-k2 roomm the ceiling had water buildup.

There was evidence to support that this standard is deficient. The caregiver stated she did not check to see if the child needed to be changed prior to dinner transition.

On the playground there is Monkey bars and a slide without the proper loose fill.

Director has 21 hours of annual training for 21-22 school year.

There is a sign saying "STOP parents not allowed at a certain point. Note: The sign was removed during the visit.

The most recent fire inspection was conducted on 6/16/2021.

4 out of 8 caregivers are missing the additional training requirements.

During the inspection a 10 month old was observed in the crib with a pacifier clip. This was corrected at the inspection when the caregiver removed the clip.

In the infant classroom 3 bottles were not labeled with the child's first and last name. This was corrected when the caregiver labeled the bottles.

A 6 month old was observed sleeping in a swing with a blanket.

Two out of ten records were lacking the required school information.

Four of five infants were observed sitting at the lunch table watching tv on a phone.

Staff records were not available during the inspection.

Three school age students were in a classroom unsupervised while the staff member was located at the front desk.

One infant in care did not have the required daily report.

The school age playground was lacking the required 9 inches of sand.

The toilet in the pre-k classroom was observed to have excrement on it.

Five out of ten files were lacking the required emergency contact address.

Bottles in the infant class were observed without labels.

The baseboard in the schoolers classroom was chipping.

The beds located in the infants classroom were lacking labels for students.

The written feeding instruction for one infant was lacking a recent update. The last update was 3/7/2021.

One caregiver was supervising a group of five students, 6 month to 14 months putting the caregiver out of ratio by one. One caregiver was supervising a group of 10 students, 18 mo to 2 years old putting the caregiver out of ratio by one.
